چکیده

We propose an approach (GQM/MEDEA) for defining measures of product attributes in software engineering. The approach is driven by the experimental goals of measurement, expressed via the GQM paradigm, and a set of empirical hypotheses. To make the empirical hypotheses quantitatively verifiable, GQM/MEDEA supports the definition of theoretically valid measures for the attributes of interest based on their expected mathematical properties. The empirical hypotheses are subject to experimental verification. This approach integrates several research contributions from the literature into a consistent, practical, and rigorous

An Operational Definition of Affects in Urban Space in the Light of a Methodological Approach

Background & Aims: Different urban areas provoke different reactions from people of various cultures. It is key in urban designing to realize the interrelationship of constructed environments and the emotional effects on human behavior. Related investigations are based on environmental psychology and social sciences. Therefore, there is a lack of appropriate evaluation methods in the field. Yet...

Towards an Operational Definition of Critical Thinking

This paper offers a state-of-the-art working definition for the concept of Critical Thinking (CT hereafter) in an attempt to provide a framework for the development of an operational definition for this complex concept. Having studied various definitions and models, proposed for CT by major figures in the field, the key defining features of this rich concept were identified and classified. Base...

Material for brainstorming: Towards a common notion of goal for business process modeling

Two types of goals can be distinguished when discussing business processes: strategic and operational goals. Strategic goals, like customer satisfaction, growth, profit, etc. are associated with the process type. They explain why the process exists/should exist in the organization, and why it should be driven in a certain way. Analysis of strategic goals results in the rules/procedures that dic...

A novel method for detecting structural damage based on data-driven and similarity-based techniques under environmental and operational changes

The applications of time series modeling and statistical similarity methods to structural health monitoring (SHM) provide promising and capable approaches to structural damage detection. The main aim of this article is to propose an efficient univariate similarity method named as Kullback similarity (KS) for identifying the location of damage and estimating the level of damage severity. An impr...

Goal Programming Optimization Model for Performance Management: A SCOR-Based Supply Chain Decision Alignment

This article develops an integrated model of transmitting strategies and operational activities to enhance the efficiency of supply chain management. As the second objective, this paper aims to improve supply chain performance management (SCPM) by employing proper decision-making approaches. The proposed model optimizes the performance indicator based on SCOR metrics. A process-based method is ...
